life in the fast lane….
Aloha everyone! Another quick update. Still no photos unfortunately since our camera cable is in “The Other Luggage” which we’ll be able to pick up tomorrow, hopefully. (short version of the story: we had quite a bit of excess luggage that we shipped with cargo to keep the costs down).
But boy have we been busy having a good time! We had a very nice dinner and a great evening at our neighbours Lou and Megan the other day. Furthermore, we ventured out to Lyall Bay and Houghton Bay yesterday to view the waves. Pfeew! Pretty nice surf, with hardly anyone out there. We met Rich, a cool guy in a 50s pink Buick bus that he converted into a coffee corner. I had a chat with my new employer today at Catalyst and sneaked into a record store on the way home to get my hands on a The Brunettes cd - they’re such a cool band - while Willemijn has started gardening by getting some herbs and plants from a nearby gardening centre. Tomorrow we’re going out for dinner with Kate and some of her friends, coming friday Will’s having drinks with the women of her frisbee team and I’m having drinks with my future colleagues. Sooo… plenty of entertainment on this side of the planet, that’s for sure.
And we’ve been exploring the city - it’s so beautiful! The walk from Wadestown (where we currently live) to town is about 45 minutes. After a good ten minutes, you reach the top of a hill with a stunning view over the harbour and bay. Every time we reach that point we stop and think “whoa, this is our city!!”… And while I’m typing this I’m looking out of the window, at a clear blue sky and distant hills. Not too shabby!!
